Closing up the festival season this year is Ake Arts and Books festival. For those new to the world of Ake, it is the most anticipated cultural event of the year with all lovers of books and arts gathered in Abeokuta every November. This year’s bill is brimming with excitement as it features some of our favourite authors, engages discussions, book chats, documentaries and stage performances.
The theme of the 2015 Ake Arts and Book Festival is ‘Engaging the Fringe’. This means that conversations and dialogue will focus on genres and creative endeavor that are not regarded as ‘mainstream’ in spite of their growing popularity and availability. We will also have stimulating discussions that explore issues concerning life and creativity in Africa in an open, honest and constructive way. I will be hosting the poetry panel as well as performing at the palm wine and poetry event. For more information please check out www.akefestival.org . See you in Abeokuta
