The Dialogue Edition of Open Mic Theatre held on the 15th of August 2014 at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island and from the after buzz, it clearly was a beautiful evening of music and acting performances. Performances from actors like Tina Mba, Ufuoma McDermott and even a reading from Chude Jideonwo, was said to have engaged the audience from start to finish.I got of work a little late so missed veteran actor Tina Mba and the awesomeness that is Ufoma McDermott perform my piece titled ‘Confrontation’ about a woman who discovers her husband has been having a decade long affair with a colleague of hers and decides to have that face off. Don’t ask me why i chose to write about that subject but i think there is something about that complexity in relationships i find intriguing. Tina Mba or Aunty T as we call her encouraged me to make it into a bigger piece which was very encouraging. I caught Seun Ajayi and Kiki Omeli’s performance of a scene from ‘The Godfather’ and i will always love watching Seun. He harbours a certain intensity yet quietness to his performances that i love and yet very naturalistic in style. If you are a theatre lover or you are just looking for exciting new performers or you just want to have a good time, Open Mic Theatre is definitely for you. It happens every other month so keep checking the blog for updates. Open Mic Theatre is powered by the Make It Happen Productions and is hosted by Kemi Lala Akindoju
