Strip; An Exhibition On Nudes

So just over a month ago Adenrele Sonariwo of Rele gallery asked if i would be interested in co-curating an exhibition on nudes along with writer Ayodeji Rotinwa. As you can imagine, i leaped with joy saying YES!  The body is something that has always been of great importance to me. From a personal point of view, it has been a source of shame and isolation as well as a tool for liberation and empowerment. We hope that with the works of very talented visual artists both painters and photographers on display, we  investigate, interrogate but most importantly open a discourse about the human anatomy. We want to reopen those conversations on beauty, shame, politics, sexuality, power and freedom. In the words of my co-curator Ayodeji Rotinwa, ‘this is one body party you wouldn’t want to miss’.

I send this to cordially invite you to the opening of RELE’s next exhibition, STRIP holding Sunday, May 17th 2015.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support thus far since RELE’s launch in February 2015. This is RELE’s fourth exhibition since launch and we couldn’t have gotten here without you.
I’m especially excited about this exhibition as it features the most vibrant collection of artists from photographic icon, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, to promising young artist, Toyosi Kekere-Ekun. Also, the exhibition explores a very intriguing subject: the human anatomy, with artists capturing varying shades of nudity. It promises to be really good.
So, just as you’ve supported me this far, I want you to attend this exhibition. Your presence and support as always means a lot.
