Room 313 Episode Two Moby’s Story

Moby’s story was actually the first that i had written in the series. The actor Anee Icha plays the role of Moby and i have to say that it was such a collaborative effort. I met Anee whilst interviewing her during the promotional rounds of a television series titled ‘Before 30’. I don’t know what it was but i felt a very genuine connection to her. I asked her to come to my house for a screen test and from the moment i turned on the camera, i know i had found Moby. Anee pretty much injested this character and more importantly gave Moby the right dose of neurosis, strength, vulnerability and empathy. I am thoroughly proud of the work we have created and i hope that you enjoy it and share it with everyone you know. This episode is dedicated to my friends Anuli, Fiona and Sheila.

Abeg Wana, this one tore my heart to shreds. Anee was so believably understated and vulnerable, quite as if this really happened to her. I felt her pain right in my deepest parts, my uterus lurched and contracted in pain. You told this story very well. You are so gifted, my girl. The narrative that her husband was traumatized? All these men just took and discarded her as if she were a mere thing. But she’s still living..she finds strength to face each day as it dawns. Takes care of her daughter. Her mind may be fractured but one day it will heal. She’s Woman enough for that, you can already tell. That to me is strength beyond anything. Anee, you told the story very well. Brava.
