So it has been almost three years since i had my photographs professionally taken except of course the photos i took for the Jumia plus size campaign. I decided it was time to retire those images considering a lot of complaints about seeing them a little too much. Well i figured a little facelift never hurt nobody. I enlisted my trusted friend and incredible makeup artist Lois Isen of Prospotted Makeovers. Lois and i have a great relationship, she understands my face and she allows me bully(just kidding) which means she usually doubles up as wardrobe assistant and gossip partner. I also get to practice my not-so-fantastically spoken Ibibio with her.
Chide Nwankwo of Chyder5 photography was such a treat to work with. Chidi is well known for his runway photography and fashion editorials so it was interesting to observe him work in what i would consider quite a calm space without the pandemonium of models, stylists and the expectant audience.
My friend Ayodeji Rotinwa took the podium as creative director. I felt spoilt as they allowed me pretend to be a star for a few hours. Re.Le gallery gave me permission to interrupt business for the day and making a little mess in the process. I styled myself of course and my hair. My years working at my mother’s saloon clearly didn’t go to waste if i may say so myself. Nothing a bit of styling gel and some bobby pins can’t do. A couple of rough edges but hey, i just pretend i don’t like things too pristine. This of course i how i console myself where there are some rough edges peeking out in the photograph.
