Warsanshire is certainly one of my favourite poets. Her poem ‘for women who are difficult to love’ seems to have become an anthem to many of us of a certain generation.
Her words are simple yet not simplistic but also dealing with very complex themes and situations. Perhaps it is what makes the work hit you when you least expect it. In my bid to do more on the blog and share more of the things i love, poetry being one amongst many. I hope you enjoy this gem that is titled ‘Home’. A line that sleeps with me is one that
‘you have to understand,
that no one puts their children in a boat
unless the water is safer than the land’

I lover her work! It speaks to so much of the experience of a generation of third culture women and supplies expression where we perhaps we didn’t even know it was possible or necessary.
