I don’t know what it is but Ireti Doyle has to be one of my favourite people in the world. I am not quite sure if it is her fierce honesty or unapologetic vulnerability, i can’t seem to put my finger on it. The first time i interviewed her was a few years ago on my former radio show Sharing Life Issues and i remember making her cry after sharing a story about her children. On first meeting, her stern demeanour keeps you guessing. You never quite know what to expect but as she tells me in this interview she likens her personality to a soursop. Once you get past the prickly bits, its all mush. Ireti’s talent is undeniable on screen and on the stage. Despite being a fan and strong admirer of her work, i have loved seeing her evolve and like fine wine her growth is nothing short of beautiful to experience just watching from the sidelines. The only surprise is the fact that she is finally receiving the acclaim and recognition after putting two decades of work in.
I hope you enjoy watching the interview as much as i enjoyed chatting with her.
